The Community Family Literacy Project, Inc. is a 501c3 organization that provides literacy services to patrons in the Mastics-Moriches-Shirley Community Library district. CFLP’s mission is to educate, empower, and elevate individuals, families, and communities. CFLP proudly serves our diverse community through classes, programs, and events.

Our educational services provide classes for adults, enrichment for preschool and school age children, and volunteer opportunities for teens. Our Family Literacy classes support parents as their child’s first teacher, and together, children and parents embark on their language learning journey.

Our programs bring us “out and about” in the community and we offer library outreach on-the-road. We actively support our hometown schools by participating in the William Floyd School District’s events. Thanks to our community partners, we offer Laundromat Literacy programs in a local laundromat, Walk and Talk programs in local parks, and more.

Our annual events include the Community Cleanup, A Celebration of Citizenship, 5K Run/Walk for Literacy, Book Sale for Literacy, National Family Literacy Day, and more. Our fundraising efforts go right back into the community through:

• Reach Out and Read books for the Sun River Health Center

• Scholarships for William Floyd High School seniors

• Scholarships for United States naturalization

• Book giveaways at community events

• and more!
